I was called to ministry at 19 years of age. I am currently 42.

Between those years, I’ve served in the Youth Ministry, was a Youth Minster, and started a College Ministry.

When I started attending my current church they asked me to start a Security Team for the new campus. At the time I was a Robbery / Homicide Detective with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department with 17 years of experience. One thing lead to another and because of my back ground with working with youth and college students, I was offered to come on staff as a part-time Next Generation Pastor. (Part-time) Made me LOL for a second. Anyway, I was able to manage both being a Detective and the Next Gen guy for a year and then I was asked to come on full-time which I did as of Aug 2016.

And here I am….

I have been part of the Connexus Family since our launch in 2007, and joined the staff team officially in 2011 as Children’s Director. In January 2016, Jeff Brodie past the Family Ministry Director role over to me and I’ve been trying to figure it out ever since. I’m responsible for all things family ministry related which sometimes includes various projects that I can easily get passionate about. Creating environments that children and students love to be a part of, experiences that help everyone engage in their own faith, and inspiring every age group to make a relationship with Jesus their own keeps me motivated. My own thirst for fun and my spunky personality helps me lead a team of extraordinary staff and volunteers. Life wouldn’t be the same without my husband of 25 years, Trevor and 2 daughters who are also on staff this year at Connexus. Sydney as program director in Student Ministry and Saige in the Media leadership program. Connexus is much louder these days 🙂

Sipho Mhlanga

Sipho Mhlanga

Tabernacle of Praise Church International | McDonough, GA

Pastor Sipho Mhlanga was born in Zimbabwe Africa. He is the proud son of Beverly and Bongani Mhlanga and the brother of Adesia Mhlanga. Pastor Sipho accepted his Call to the ministry at the age of fifteen. He studied under the tutelage of his Pastor, the Reverend S.V. Adolph Jr., and delivered his initial message on May 5, 2003 at First Missionary Baptist Church, Gulfport, Mississippi. Pastor Sipho graduated from the Historical Morehouse College May 2011 where he received a Bachelors of Art in Religion and Biblical Studies. Minister Sipho furthered his education by matriculated at Emory University and received a Master of Divinity in Theology May 2014 from Candler School of Theology. In the passing years he has served as the Youth Minister at First Missionary Baptist Church, Gulfport Mississippi Pastor S.V. Adolph Jr., Youth Minister at Midway Missionary Baptist Church, College Park, Georgia, Pastor Edward S. Reynolds, Pastor, Youth Pastor Stonewall Missionary Baptist Church, Shreveport Louisiana Pastor Uelyss Reed, Youth Pastor Emmaus Road Missionary Baptist Church Atlanta, Georgia Pastor Sedric Hamner, and is currently serving as the Children’s & Youth Director/ Youth Pastor at Tabernacle of Praise Church International in McDonough, Georgia, T.J. McBride, Pastor, Shunnae McBride, Co-Pastor. In 2009 Pastor Sipho started a campaign known as #ibelieveGOD to encourage people that found themselves in financial, physical, psychological, and emotional situations. The point of this movement was to speak life, to give hope, and to help people understand that life wont always be perfect and everything wont always go as planned, but as the Gospel of Mark suggests, “Everything is possible to one who believes.”(Mark 9:23) #ibelieveGOD is not just a phrase, but it is a declaration of faith that regardless of my current predicament, I will stand on my faith and the Word of God and declare to my situation I believe God. Sipho Mhlanga would define himself as creative, energetic, enthusiastic, and most of all compassionate. He is committed to ministering to youth in a way that allows them to grasp and apply the Word of God to their lives. Pastor Sipho is well known for his ability to take a pop culture song and extract Biblical principles that are beneficial to the development of our youth in the 21st century. Pastor Sipho is also well known for using technology to take the Gospel to the streets. Pastor Sipho firmly believes that the Gospel should not just be confined to the four wall of the church, but we should take advantage of technology that all men and women might be saved by any means necessary. But most importantly, Pastor Sipho Mhlanga is a saved and born again believer. He is a Spirit filled, Bible believing and a Resurrection sharing believer in the Lord Jesus Christ! Pastor Sipho firmly believes that God has called him for such as time as this to be a “soul chaser” to which, he seeks to do daily. Pastor Mhlanga’s joy and balance is his beautiful wife, Rosanna Mhlanga who is a Dekalb County Educator. As a dynamic duo, they are dedicated servants of God, in ministry and as a teaching team working diligently to educate our children and youth spiritually and academically. The Mhlanga’s stand as a testament to what God can do in the lives of true believers.
